my son + i have this ritual we call "fun friday." often, we road trip to someplace new. other days, we feed the ducks. and, sometimes, we just treat ourselves full-stop.
like we did today. early this morning, we hit on the rise bakery in cleveland heights. adam gidlow and his team of artisan bakers knead out loaf after loaf of delectable breads, baguettes, scones, cookies + croissants (flakey, buttery, very french. in fact, i often hear parisians conversing in this bake shop + i imagine myself at a "boulangerie" in france...).
to me, owner + head baker adam gidlow is part chemist and part craftsman. his treasure trove of floury goodness sells some of the best this locavore has ever eaten (here in cleveland + even elsewhere). beyond the tasty french goodies, i am quite partial to the pullman loaf (now this is white "wonder" bread); green olive rolls (perfect for spice-rubbed grilled chicken breasts); cinnamon raisin loaf (on its own, as toast or decadent french toast). can you tell that i have a serious addiction?
anyhoo, no matter what charlie + i do, on fridays we're loafin' it.
