these distressed denim overalls paired with a filmy pale blue blouse are from ralph lauren's 2010 spring collection (ready-to-wear) where he drew upon current economic times and the classic steinbeck novel "grapes of wrath."
the result: an assemblage of real purty clothes worthy of working class heroines + the upper east side.
brilliant, i think.
said mr. lauren in his program notes: "I am inspired by the character of the worker, the farmer, the cowboy, the pioneer women of the prairies living authentically through challenging times...I have always admired the honesty of their work wear-the weathered jean, the sturdy overall, the jean jacket, the faded blue work shirt, the naive print of a floral dress."
yep, i'd wear them at home on (while cleaning) the range.
note it:
"like a rolling stone" by bob dylan (...and as ralph takes bow, the show closes.)
