in fact, i predict pie is going to make a mini comeback - perhaps even give the ubiquitous cupcake a run for its money!
great for gatherings of all kinds: wedding receptions (retro+hip), picnics, holidays, family meals....leftover pie is yummy for breakfast too.
berry, apple, custard, pumpkin, old fashioned sugar cream, lemon meringue - oh pie!
fun fact:
i have eaten many a wick's pies at wick's restaurant. hailing from the small town of winchester in indiana, these pies are now shipped all over the country!

FUN IDEA: Annually, for the last four years, a friend of mine has been hosting a pie-contest party for her birthday. She has it at a local park and asks everyone to come and bring a pie to share/taste/be judged. You can buy it or make it. It has become so popular that this year she expects 50 people! She has come up with different categories every year (homemade, store-bought, kids choice, etc) and everyone votes for the top 3 and she gives little prizes at the end for the top pies! It is so fun and SO GOOD!! The party is becoming quite the "don't miss" occasion!
