family friday: beach-combing

the other day charlie and i attended "beach class" for preschoolers through lake metroparks (the best $5 ever spent!).

while at fairport harbor lakefront park, charlie collected rocks, shells, driftwood and other stuff he found interesting along lake erie's shore. using teacher provided glue and colored sand, he made the cutest gifts: paperweights!

i highly recommend beach-combing as a family activity. it's a crafty way to spend a few hours on a hot summer day.
